The History of Burton Hockey Awards

2006 Burton Hockey Awards

The year-end award winners for Burton Hockey's most successful season ever were officially announced today. BUSH players took most of the honours due to the larger player pool, but every race was closely contested by players from both leagues right to the bitter end, and this is reflected by the growing numbers of full-time VRH players on the all-star teams.

What If...

...you were to take every Burton Hockey season and adjust them to an even 82-game schedule? It makes this season's statistics seem even more impressive when you compare them against other years.

New Website Launched

I am very pleased to announce the launch of a new website for Burton Hockey at its very own domain: http://www.burtonhockey.com. The site features many new features for you to explore and an overall facelift. Enjoy!

Stats Glitches For The Next Few Days

As the fearless Stefan Klopp prepares the forthcoming changes to the website, I have been updating the boxscores and session recaps accordingly to fit the new schematics of the site. Of course, the changes don't quite work with this older version of the site. So, for the next few days until the new site is launched, you'll notice a few little glitches, particularly when looking at the assist column (there are a few less assists for most people than there used to be). Don't worry, those assists haven't gone anywhere; you'll be able to see that in the points column.

Burton Hockey Feature In The Arrow Lakes News

Yours truly had an interview with the Arrow Lakes News about Burton Hockey and the website which you can read in this week's edition if you live in the Aarow Lakes/Slocan Valley. Very cool to see how far we've come enough; evidently far enough that we can make it into a bonafide newspaper.

Welcome, New Visitors!

We've been getting a lot of new visitors to the site, so we'd just like to take the time to welcome you to hockey.kloppmagic.ca, the online home of Burton Hockey, BUSH and VRH. Please look around and explore the site and its many features, including fully sortable stats, player profiles and the ability to compare player's stats against each other. This is just the beginning! We are currently red-designing the site and will have a brand-new look by the end of the season.

Burton Media Exposure

A little birdie tells me a certain statistician/adjudicator had an interview with a local newspaper last night. More to come...

Oliver Koth-Kappus Reaches 1,000 Points

Last night at John McCormack Memorial Park in Burton, Oliver Koth-Kappus became the first player in Burton Hockey to reach 1,000 career points. Much cake and balloon popping was had by all in attendance, and Ollie was presented with a commemorative shirt.

SUPERSESSION 2006

Yes, kids, it's Easter, and with Easter comes word of this year's SuperSession. Stefan Klopp, Joern Hornhardt and Bernie Koth-Kappus from VRH have thrown down the challenge, and Lee Orr, Seamus O'Connor and Oliver Koth-Kappus have accepted on behalf of BUSH. For the first time, VRH and BUSH will form teams of their own and play head-to-head.

2005 Year-End Award Winners Named, Seamus O'Connor

The 2005 Burton Hockey Awards were handed out today with Glenbank's Seamus O'Connor taking the Most Valuable Player honour for the second straight season, joining fellow Glenbanker Lee Orr as the only multiple recipients of the award. Dallas Sinclair received Most Outstanding Player for the second straight season, while defensive mainstay Oliver Koth-Kappus received his fifth Most Outstanding Defenseman Award in six years.
