For only the sixth time in history, Burton roller hockey left John McCormack Park and went all the way across the beer garden to the Burton Community Hall for a special winter session on Monday night. The small confines of the Burton Hall makes for fast-paced, chaotic two-on-two action. An opening game was played which saw the Koth-Kappi, Robert, Joern and Stefan beat the Bilinskis, Justin and Mitch (making his return to Burton hockey after three-and-a-half years). Once all the participants arrived (except perennial cop-put Andrew Watson), a tournament was held with teams consisting of Laird, Stefan and Pat; Robert, Ollie and Bernie; Justin, Mitch and Chris. Pat emerged as a sniper in his first venture outside of the goal crease and Laird scored six goals on thirteen shots as they swept the round-robin 2-0. Rob and the Koth-Kappi finished 1-1, and Justin, Mitch and Chris lost both their games in closely fought 5-4 battles. Teams shared Joern and Lorne as their goaltenders. After the departure of the Bilinskis, Robert, Oliver, Chris and Justin swept the final series 2-0. Mitch notched an impressive nine points, as did Stefan. The big scoring, though, came from the tandem of Robert and Bernie. Robert doubled the point totals of all other players with 15 goals and 5 assists in 5 games. Bernie, taking advantage of the smaller dimensions of the hall, returned to late-2000 form with ten points to take the second star. After the session, a Burton Hall tradition was continued with a series of shootouts, about which you can read about in the News section of hockey.kloppmagic.ca.

Useless Stats: Remember, there are still errors with the records module but you can look at all records and honours by clicking the 'Records and Honours' link on the front page. Or, just make your own leaderboard with sortable stats from your friendly neighbourhood Klopp. Oliver has slightly widened his lead over Lorne in all-time scoring but can't quite get to 200 points for 2003 as Lee is the only one to do. Robert has set the records for most consectutive ten-goal sessions with six, passing Justin's record set earlier this year and has moved ahead of Stefan for fourth in shots for the year. Justin almost but not quite caught Nathan for the season lead in save percentage, Nathan takes the title with .8244 vs. 8237. Mitch played his 100th game and Joern goaltended his 100th game. Don't forget our 2003 Awards and All-Stars in the Records And Honours section.
